Well I was out having a great day at the PGA Awards lunch, my allergy test results came back and I am allergic to wheat, If there is a god then his sense of humour is dark - I was already a bread roll and 6 pints of larger in by that point in the day so thought it was my last day of freedom and drowned my sorrows in another 3 pints (bottle of wine in between)

Next day , tired I embarked on research into what alcohol I can drink , my priorities are clearly a bit screwed up. Having discovered Guinness is allowed Along with wines, most spirits I told my colleagues and friends of what would have to be a lifestyle change for me. They were all amazing suggesting what drinks I could have instead.

Disaster averted 😀

Christmas came and gluten free Christmas pudding is punishment for enjoying yourself.

So New Years Eve is easy, drink and don’t eat nobody will be any the wiser.

Oh almost forgot what led me to knowing I was allergic, I had a long term cough in winter and one day tried some allergy tablets and it calmed down to a manageable level, so I spoke to a doctor who suggested the allergy tests and one week of avoiding things I liked , the cough has almost completely gone and as each day goes by it gets less.

So not all things are bad and there is an upside to almost anything if you think about it.

Yes there is no relevance to smart buildings and the struggle to get to carbon neutral world can’t be solved by Guinness alone. However a lot of great ideas come when drinking alcohol. Some of those to follow
